The triangular centre is made first and then the borders and edging. The borders feature repeating motifs containing traditional Shetland patterning. The shawl can be made either as a triangle or a square. The triangular version uses 6 x 25 gram balls of Jamieson and Smith Cobweb and measures 92 inches / 230 cm along the top edge, 48 inches / 120 cm from top to tip.
The large square version uses approx. 12 balls and measures approx. 72 inches / 180 cm along the sides.
