A New Book on Shetland Lace Knitting

"The knitting charts present the lace patterns in an easy to read and do form. They eliminate the mistakes that occur in written patterns due to typographical errors. Many of these charts record patterns no longer available in books, or which have never been recorded. I have graded the patterns and sample projects according to levels of experience to help; otherwise the possible combinations are entirely the knitter's choice.
This is the book I wanted when I started Shetland lace knitting. It is intended as a resource. It gives a brief history, useful help and a comprehensive collection of patterns - many for the first time. There is endless scope for variation and I explain how any of the patterns can be experimented with to produce something more valued because of its uniqueness.
This continues another tradition in Shetland lace knitting, where knitters developed their own ways of working patterns. Finally, although Shetland lace is traditionally made using the finest ply wools which best display its airy grace; these patterns could be made in almost any yarn, so I hope that they will inspire anyone who enjoys lace knitting."
