Your patterns show items made with white wool ~ can they be knitted with other colours?

Yes ~ 1 ply wool comes in the following colours ~ Blue; Pink; Lemon; Peach; Lavender; Light Green; Black and of course White. For the 2 ply lace weight wool there is a much wider colour range

Regarding needle sizes - I've noticed a slight variation between the comparisons e.g. British size 14 = 2.25 mm. Other table comparisons give this as a 2 mm. Why is this and does it matter?

The confusion arises due to old needles still in use and measuring gauges. In practice, the tiny variation between a 2.25 mm and 2 mm is negligable overall. What does matter is the tension for a given article. Please read the section on 'Knitting Needles & Tension' p. 30 for more explanation

Why is the book Heirloom Knitting so expensive?

The price of Heirloom Knitting was set by the Publishers and reflects the fact that it is a quality book. I am obligated to sell it at the retail price set by them.
