This elegant stole uses an antique variation of the classic Shetland lace Print O' the Wave Pattern that appears on a 19th century stole.

Made here in a black Shetland Cobweb 1 ply wool, it measures 24 inches x 76 inches (60 cms x 180 cms), using 4 x 25 gram balls. It requires a British size 12 (2.75 mm American 1) circular needle 40 cms / 16 inches long. This is an excellent project for the the moderately experienced knitter.

Warning - knitting with black wool can be hard on the eyes. It's recommended that any knitting in this colour is done in daylight or very good artificial light. Alternatively, this stole could be made in white instead or in a choice of six pastel colours. Click on image for a more detailed picture.
